Installing Viscosity

  1. Download Viscosity from the company website, https://www.sparklabs.com/viscosity/
    1. The file will be called Viscosity Installer.exe and by default, will be saved in the Downloads folder of your computer by default
  2. Open the file. Your computer may ask for an administrative password if you do not have administrative rights, in which case, contact Daily Data or an administrator who can set this up for you. This will bring up the Viscosity Setup Wizard. Click Next to continue.
  3. Accept the license agreement, default file storage location and all components. It is recommended to create a Start Menu folder and desktop icon as well but those are optional and won’t affect the functioning of Viscosity. Last, click the Install button to continue. It may install additional components, depending on your specific hardware (such as Microsoft Visual Basic ++)- just confirm/agree to continue. Launch Viscosity when prompted- you’re all set to begin configuring it!

Setting Up Viscosity VPN Client

By default, Viscosity will launch automatically after completing installation. If you don’t launch it at this time, it will launch like any other Windows program by clicking on the Windows Menu button on the lower left-hand side of the screen and typing the name (or scrolling until you find it.) Once launched, it will sit in the icon bar to the lower right with nothing visible on the main part of the screen until you choose to bring it up.
