Daily Data System Status
E-Mail Server Maintenance
Current Status
Scheduled to begin 2025-11-27 23:00
Description
Daily Data has scheduled maintenance planned for the mail server mail.dailydata.net (mickey.dailydata.net) beginning 2025-11-27 23:00 and lasting for approximately 2 hours.
During this time, e-mail may not be sent or received by the server, and there will be times when you will not be able to check mail. Automated systems, like e-mail clients currently running (Android/IOS phones, mail clients on your workstations, fetchmail) will show sporadic errors.
Mail will not be lost. If an e-mail is sent to you during this time, it will be held by the sending server and retried at a later time. All mail should be delivered to you, even if initially attempted during the time the server is shut down, by 6am Friday.
We will update this page with status when we actually shut the service down and when it is fully recoverd.
Description of Maintenance
For technically inquisitive users, the following work is scheduled.
- Increase disk space on the system drive
- The system partition (/ under Unix) is currently at 80% capacity, possibly causing problems in the future
- We will double the size of this partition to ensure maximum efficiency in the future
- During this time, the server will be physically shut off
- We will not be modifying the e-mail storage partition, as it is more than adequate for the future (no existing e-mails will be touched)
- upgrade spam detection
- The spamhaus has upgraded the way spam detection is performed
- We will bring spamhaus detection up to the latest recommended practices
- During this time, the server will accept/send e-mail, but may take a few minutes longer
- Reading e-mail will not be affected.
